Colorado State Rams History
The Colorado State Rams entered into the world of football in 1893. Sonny Lubick was named as the head coach of the Rams in 1993. Under his leadership as the head coach, the team has given nine bowl game appearances. They have won 75% of their home games. He led the team to six conference titles and posted a 108-74 overall record. Owing to their outstanding performance, the Rams were counted among the top 25 contender from 1994-2002 season. During this era, the team went 79-32 record and 3 top 25 finishes. Sonny Lubick received the conference coach of the year honor four times. After some disappointing seasons, the team had to make the difficult and controversial decision to replace the Sunny Lubick with Steve Fairchild. He was a quarterback of the team from 1978-80. Under him, the Rams finished the regular season in Mountain West Conference in 4th place. The team played in the New Mexico Bowl on December 20. They faced and defeated the Fresno State Bulldogs in the bowl game. Under Steve Fairchild, the Rams experienced three consecutive win seasons. The Colorado State Rams play their home matches at Sonny Lubick Field at Hughes Stadium.
