Georgia Bulldogs History
The roots of the Georgia Bulldogs lie in 1895. Earlier, they were the part of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association (SIAA). It was the first collegiate athletic conference formed in the United States. But in 1921, they left the SIAA along with 12 other teams to join the Southeastern Conference (SEC). The 1983 season turned out to be the most successful year of the Georgia Bulldogs as they gave their first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance. They made it to the NCAA Tournament round of 32 and went on to Sweet Sixteen. By climbing the next stair, Bulldogs made it to the Elite Eight and clinched the Final Four berth. Their performance paid off and they won the Conference Tournament Championship in 1983 season. Another wave of success came in 1990 season, the Georgia Bulldogs performed outstanding and won their first ever regular-season Conference Championship. After 1990 season, they started finishing the seasons with average records but a bright spot came in 1996, when they fought back and gave the NCAA Tournament appearance in 1996, making it to the sweet sixteen. But unfortunately, Georgia failed to go further in the tournament. They play their home games at Stegeman Coliseum, a great place to witness a superb game!
