Missouri Tigers History
The Missouri Tigers started their journey of thousand miles in 1890. They are the member of the Big 12 Conference since its establishment in 1996. H.O. Robinson was the head coach of the team in 1893. The team posted the overall 4-3-0 record in 1893 season. The Tigers have a 13-16 Bowl Record. They have appeared in many bowl games including Orange Bowl, Sugar Bowl, Fiesta Bowl, Cotton Bowl Classic, Gator Bowl, Sun Bowl, Capital One Bowl, Holiday Bowl, Liberty Bowl, Independence Bowl and Alamo Bowl. The Missouri Tigers have won 13 bowl games since their establishment. Under the leadership of the head coach, Don Faurot, the team posted an overall 3-7-0 record in 1951. The Tigers made it to the 1961 Orange Bowl. They battled with the Navy and defeated them by a score of 21-14. The team was handed over to a new coach in 1978 and Warren Powers became the head coach of the Missouri Tigers. The team gave the standout performance in 1978 season; therefore, Powers received the Walter Camp Coach of the Year Award. The team has won have 15 conference championships and 3 conference division title since its founding. The Missouri Tigers play their home games at Faurot Field.
