North Carolina State Wolfpack History
The North Carolina State Wolfpack started their journey of thousand miles in 1892. Before joining ACC, they were a member of the Southern Conference. The team played its first football game against a team from the Raleigh Male Academy on March 12, 1892. In the next year, the Wolfpack played their first intercollegiate game against Tennessee College. The North Carolina won the game by a score of 12-6. The 1907 season was one of the successful seasons of the team. Mickey Whitehurst was the coach of the team. Under him, the team won the South Atlantic Intercollegiate Athletic Association championship with a 6-0-1 record. Also, this was the first time that the team got the victory over the University of Virginia. In 1910, the North Carolina State Wolfpack won a second South Atlantic championship. They finished the season a record of 4-0-2. The team defeated the Virginia Tech in Norfolk, which became the biggest game ever played in the South. The Wolfpack won their third conference championship with a record of 6-1. They joined the ACC in 1953. The team has won has won seven conference championships and 13 bowl games. The North Carolina State Wolfpack play their home games at Carter–Finley Stadium.
