The Oklahoma St. Cowboys joined their first conference at the start of the 1915 season. They shut out the 1953 season with 7-3 record. In 2001, Les Miles became the head coach of the team. In his first year, the Cowboys went with 4–7 record. The team made it the regular season finale. They faced and defeated the National Champion Oklahoma Sooners in Norman by a score of 16-13. Success came quickly to the team, they posted 7-5 record in the following season. The Cowboys battled with the Oklahoma Sooners once again and got victory over them. In the last three years of Miles as the head coach, he led the team to the three straight bowl games. After the resignation of miles in 2004, the Mike Gundy became the 22nd coach of the team. The first season of the team with Gundy was disappointing. In the following season, the cowboys defeated the Alabama Crimson Tide in the Independence Bowl. The Oklahoma St. Cowboys posted a 6-6 regular record in 2007 season. They defeated the Indiana Hoosiers in Insight Bowl game. In 2010 coach Gundy recorded the first ever 11-win season in Oklahoma State history. Since their founding, the team has won 9 conference titles. The Oklahoma St. Cowboys play their home game at Boone Pickens Stadium.
