Oregon St. Beavers History
The Oregon St. Beavers started their journey of thousand miles in 1901, playing their first season 1902 under the head coach J.B. Patterson but failed to post a winning record. In the following season, J.W. Viggers was hired as the new head coach of the team, who led them to great heights, going 5-1 record, a .883 winning percentage. Head coach W.O. Trine was named the successor in 1904 and led the team till 1907 season. Under his watch, the beavers compiled a whooping 39-7 record, a 848 winning percentage. By doing so, they became one of the favorite teams of the fans. Since then, there was no looking back. In the following season, they went 7-4 with .636 winning percentage. The beavers made it big in 1947 by giving their first ever NCAA Tournament but unfortunately they lost to Oklahoma in a thrilling game by the score of 56-54. History repeated after two years and they made it to the NCAA Tournament again in 1949, which includes sweet sixteen, Final Eight and Final Four appearances. Since their establishment, they gave 16 NCAA appearances and made it to the Final Four twice. He Oregon St. Beavers play their home games at Gill Coliseum.
