Pennsylvania Quakers Basketball Men’s Basketball Tickets
Since 1987 the Penn Quakers men’s basketball team has proudly been representing the University of Pennsylvania. During their long history as an organization, the team has made a major impact on the league, beginning with playing in the first ever five on five game of basketball which occurred in 1987 between Penn and Yale. They started their rise to greatness with their first pre-tournament Helms Championship that they won in 1920. The team followed up that victory with a win again in 1921 and from there became known as one of the most successful and followed men’s basketball teams in college basketball.
Today they have been conference regular season champions 28 different times. The team has made the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA tournament five times, the Elite Eight twice and the Final Four one time. Today they are ranked at the number 9 spot on the list of winningest men’s basketball programs of all time. This success can be accredited not only to the long list of famous players that have worn the red and blue Quaker colors, but to the long line of successful coaches that have led the program. This includes coaches such as Dick Harter, Fran Dunphy, Glen Miller and Jerome Allen.
The Penn Quaker men’s basketball team currently plays in the Ivy League of the NCAA Division I pool of teams. The team, known mostly as The Quakers, plays their home games at the Palestra in their home town of Philadelphia, PA. The arena is often criticized for being quite small in comparison to the number of fans that the team typically brings out to the game, but it is considered an important landmark on the university’s campus and the Quakers continue to play their home games at the arena.
This venue can hold over 8,700 fans. Since the team is often one of the highest ranked in the nation and one of the most popular the arena is not only considered one of the loudest in all of college basketball but one of the hardest to get tickets to.
