TCU Horned Frogs History
The TCU Horned Frogs were established in 1896. The TCU won its first game by beating the Toby’s Business College to the score of 8–6. The Frogs finished its first ever season with a record of 12–0–0.They amassed a record of 165–15–0 before joining Southwest Conference in 1923. In 1920 season, the TCU won its first conference title as a member of the Texas Intercollegiate Athletic Association. The team went 9–1–0 record and earned them a spot in the Fort Worth Classic against Centre College. The game was played in Fort Worth; they won the game with 63–7. In 1923 season, TCU had 5-game winning streak during its first year in the SWC and formed a 2–1–0 conference record and a 5–4–0 overall record. The Frogs finished the 1924 season at second place in the conference with a 5–1 SWC and 5–2 overall record. The TCU Horned Frogs won the SWC championship in 1959. The team saw another successful year in 1984 under head coach Jim Wacker. The Frogs invited to the Bluebonnet Bowl to play against the West Virginia Mountaineer but sadly lost the game. The team has claimed two national titles since their establishment. The Frogs play their home games at Amon Carter Stadium.
