The US Open tennis tournament is chronologically the fourth and final event of the Grand Slam tennis tournaments. It is held annually in August and September over a two-week period -- always the weeks before and after Labor Day weekend. The main court is located at the 24,000-seat Arthur Ashe Stadium, named after Arthur Ashe, the African American tennis player who won the men's final of the US Open in 1968.

For years the U.S. Open has been a happening. The only Grand Slam on American soil, people come from all over the country to see the sight of New York and electrifying tennis. Over the years, fans with U.S. Open Tickets have been treated to thrilling men's and women's tennis.

On the Women's side, the open era has treated fans to champions such as Billie Jean King, who won four U.S. Opens, and of course New York's darling Chris Evert Lloyd, who won six U.S. Opens, the most ever for any one woman. U.S. Open Tickets were hotter than ever when Evert Lloyd dominated the late 1970s and early 1980s. Steffi Graf then won 5 U.S. Open titles over 9 years before the Williams sisters took over, taking four straight titles between them from 1999-2002.

On the men's side, the U.S. Open has always been a place for scintillating men's tennis. Fans with U.S. Open Tickets have been treated to several incredible moments, including Ashe's win in 1968 and American Stan Smith's only U.S. Open win in 1971. And of course there are the rivalries: Connors vs. McEnroe, McEnroe vs. Borg, Connors vs. Borg, Connors vs. Lendl, Sampras vs. Agassi, and Ivan Lendl vs. everyone. Lendl appeared in 8 straight U.S. Open Finals between 1982 and 1989, winning 3. The U.S. Open was a breeding ground for rivalries in the 1970s and the 1980s, but it was Connors who was the favorite of the crowds in Flushing.

Jimmy Connors won his first U.S. Open in 1974 at the age of 22 and thrilled fans with U.S. Open Tickets for the next 22 years. He won five titles, but his most famous fortnight at the U.S. Open was in 1991 when Connors thrilled those with U.S. Open Tickets but making an improbable run to the U.S. Open semifinals at the age of 39. In his quarterfinal match, he defeated 24-year-old Aaron Krickstein 3-6, 7-6(8), 1-6, 6-3, 7-6(4) in 4 hours and 41 minutes, coming back from a 2-5 deficit in the final set.

Of course, Pete Sampras provided some memorable moments as well, winning 5 titles, the most thrilling of which was in 2002, when Sampras, playing in what would be his last tournament as a professional. That year, in the final, he faced Andre Agassi, whom he had met in his very first Grand Slam final 12 years earlier. U.S. Open tickets were at a premium, and the fans were not disappointed. After a four-set battle between the two veterans, Sampras claimed a record 14th Grand Slam singles title and matched Jimmy Connors's record of five U.S. Open singles championships.
