Washington Huskies History
The Washington Huskies played their first match in 1920-1921 season and finishing it with a considerate 18-4 record under the head coach Hec Edmundson, who coached them from 1921–1947 season. He is considered as one of the successful coaches of the Washington Huskies, posting only one losing season and compiling a amazing 488-195 overall and 258-13 conference record. Under his watch, the Huskies made it to the NCAA first round, giving their first ever NCAA Tournament appearance in 1942-1943 season. Another wave of success came to the team, when Art McLarney hired as head coach of the team. He guided them for three years and led them to NCAA Tournament and compiled a 53-36 overall record. Head coach Tippy Dye, was named the successor in 1950. During his 9 seasons stay, he brought more success to the team as they made it to the NCAA Tournament twice, which includes Elite Eight in 1950-51 and Final Four appearance in 1952-53 season. Under him, the Huskies gave phenomenal performances and built an outstanding 156-91 record. They have won 2 conference tournament championships and became the regular season champions 20 times since inception. The Washington Huskies play their home games at Alaska Airlines Arena at Hec Edmundson Pavilion.
