Baylor Bears Mens Basketball Tickets
The Baylor Bears men’s basketball team is a Division I program for Baylor University. The team is located in Waco, Texas and play their home games at the Ferrell Center. The Ferrell Center has a capacity of 10,347 people and was built in 1988. The team holds an astounding 239-135 record at the Ferrell Center. The team plays its games in the Big 12 Conference. The team is currently coached by Scott Drew. Drew has compiled a 156-123 record in his nine seasons as head coach, leading the Bears to more postseason appearances than any other coach in school history.
The school began its team in 1907 and has found inconsistent pockets of success in their hundred plus year history. The team suffered one of the most horrific tragedies in 1927 when the bus the team was traveling in was struck by an oncoming train, killing ten players. Despite this tragedy, the team went on to reach their highest level of success shortly after. The Bears won the Southwest Conference five times between 1932 and 1950. From 1946 to 1950, the team won four Conference Titles, in addition to making two Final Fours in 1948 and 1950. It took until 1988 for the team to make it back to the NCAA Tournament, a far cry from their success in the 1940s. After a major scandal rocked the team in 2003, the team has recently been able to garner a significant amount of success. After winning their first postseason game since 1950 in 2009, the team has reached the Elite Eight twice in the past three years.
Throughout their history, Baylor has featured six players selected in the NBA Draft. Three of those players were selected in the 2012 draft, with three players in their history being selected in the first round. The Bears have two main rivals, Texas A&M and Texas Christian University. While the rivalry between the Horned Frogs of TCU and the Bears is a bigger rivalry in football, the two teams’ basketball game is still a hotly contested game. The Aggies have played the Bears 211 times since the formation of the Southwest Conference in 1914, with A&M leading 136-71-4.
