Chicago Baseball Update

Fans of Chicago baseball had a big weekend as both the White Sox and the Cubs started placing themselves in important positions for their respective end of season pushes. The White Sox were on the road against Cleveland in a three game series against the twins. This series proved to be a huge turnaround for the White Sox who were coming off a two game loss against the Detroit Tigers. This game was lead by the superior performances of pitcher Chris Sale who struck out five of the six innings he pitched. After sweeping the entire series on the road, the team moved up three spots to the ninth position.

However, the Sox had very little time to celebrate this big victory as they needed to head back home to play a very important make up game against the Detroit Tigers. Monday afternoon the White Sox were back home at Wrigley Field in the afternoon to take on the Detroit Tigers and make up for their two losses earlier in the week. During this important game, the White Sox delivered Chicago fans an exciting performance with two important runs in the fifth inning that would seal the victory for the Sox. This excitement of the Chicago fans could be heard around all of Wrigley Field; and echoed the same sounds of cheers that were heard all weekend from Wrigley when the Cubs hosted their home series against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

After the weekend got off to a slow start for the Cubs and they faced a one run defeat against the Pirates with a close 7-6 loss that had fans biting their nails all game long. However, the Cubs were ready to make a comeback to close the weekend out. On Sunday the Cubs’ match up against the Pirates was all about the performances of Anthony Rizzon and Alfonso Soriano. Rizzon had two home runs during the game while Alfonso hit an RBI single during the game that would be his 100th RBI of the season. The Cubs went on to win this game 13-9 in a victory that had Chicago fans on their feet. When the series comes to an end on Monday, the Cubs will need to make a quick transition to get ready to take on the Reds on Tuesday in what promises to be an exciting home match up. The three game Reds series begins Tuesday September 18th in the evening, do you have your Cubs tickets yet?

Bulls Playoffs Right around the corner

Playoffs are right around the corner & teams are solidifying their rotations & getting everybody healthy. Except that’s not the case for the team with the leagues best record, the Bulls. They seem to be regressing. Derrick Rose has missed a third of the games with various injuries & Rip Hamilton who they signed in the off-season has missed just as many as Rose and now Luol Deng is out again with a rib injury he sustained in the last week.

People are still buying Bulls Playoff tickets rapidly, but if the Bulls are going to make a deep playoff run & challenge Miami for supremacy they need to get healthy and start playing together.

If they think they can figure it out on the fly they are sorely mistaken. There are veteran teams like the Celtics who have been through the playoff wars & are chomping at the bit to take down an unprepared upstart Bulls team.

Chicago Bears Home Opener

The Chicago Bears Make Last Minute Preparations for Colts Home Opener

This week the Chicago Bears have been preparing for their first game of the new season and although they have been picked as the favorites for their opening game, the Bears have been preparing to take on a potentially challenging competitor. As they prepare to face off against the Indianapolis Colts the Bears will be playing the first real season game against a completely Peyton Manning-free team and instead face the first year quarterback Andrew Luck. As the A normal Bears pre-game preparation routine against the Colts would inevitably include a major emphasis on taking on the unstoppable Manning, they have spent the week refocusing their efforts and learn to defend rookie QB Andrew Luck.

While the Bears defense will need to decide how to handle the talented new quarterback, the Bears offense has also been hard at work preparing for the new season and the first matchup against the Colts. Earlier this week Laurence Holmes urged fans to be patient with the new Bears offense as he told supporters that while they can expect connections between Cutler to Marshall, they may have some areas they will struggle with in their offense, but not to lose faith. As the team works to sweep away some cobwebs and rebuild their offense many have been focused on the status of star player Brian Urlacher.

After a suffering with a knee injury, and missing training camp, the Bears officially announced that #54 is on his way to making a full recovery. With a week of speculation and several missed practices, many assumed Urlacher would miss the team’s kick off game. However, late in the week, Kip Lewis announced that Urlacher would indeed be suiting up in Sunday’s matchup against the Indianapolis Colts. The Bears head coach assured fans that Urlacher was ready to play and to bring his famous, unstoppable energy to the Bears defense, assuring everyone that if the eight-time Prow Bowl middle linebacker wasn’t ready to play; he would not be stepping on the field.

Fortunately for fans, Urlacher has reiterated these notions assuring spectators that they can see him in the starting lineup on Sunday. Urlacher and the rest of the Bears team will be ready and fully prepared to take on the Colts this Sunday afternoon at Soldier Field; make sure you are prepared too with your Bears tickets to the big matchup.

Bulls on the Brink of Elimination after Injuries take their toll

Ever since Derrick Rose went down with a knee injury in Game 1 the Bulls look like a deer in headlights.. While the elite teams are getting stronger as the playoffs progress it seems like the Bulls are breaking down health wise. Bulls Tickets are still available for all games, but with Joakim Noah going down with an ankle injury Fri night & doubtful the rest of the series, it seems like the Bulls days might be numbered.

Bulls tickets are readily available as fans will flock to the United Center to cheer on the team with the NBA’s best regular season record, they just won’t see two of their starters. But having one the leagues best benches look for Tuesday nights game to be a dog fight.

Browns 2012 Draft Prospects

Speculation continues on who the Browns are looking at for their #4 pick this year. With the top 2 QBs essentially spoken for it looks like the Browns are keeping their options open. The smart money says they’ll go offense. Their defense is not in terrible condition and they have all the offensive power of a model range air rifle.

Put it simply, they need help on offense and lots of it. With their wide receiver corp one of the worst in the league and their hoped-for franchise running back Peyton Hillis gone the offense some how looks like it could be worse than last year. And that is saying something cause the offense last year STUNK.

Get comfortable with this top 5 pick Browns fans, something tells me you’ll be back for another in 2013.

Bulls, Bears and Fire

This weekend brought a great deal of excitement to the Windy City, especially at downtown Soldier Field when the Bears pulled out one of the most exciting wins in recent history to clinch a victory against the Panthers. After struggling early on in the game, the Bears came back from a major deficit late in the fourth quarter to secure a win 23-22 over the Panthers. This win had fans in Soldier Field on their feet and cheering loud enough for the entire city to hear, but they weren’t the only Chicago sports fans making noise over the weekend.

Fans of the Chicago Bulls were dealt some hard news when it was revealed that injured star Derrick Rose will not only not be returning to the team for their first regular season games this week but that he will likely not even be on the bench for games. The news came as a hard blow for many Chicago Bulls fans who were hoping for a miracle and a quicker return for their city’s star. While fans won’t be seeing much of Rose they will be seeing the rest of the Chicago Bulls live in their first regular season game this week, which will kick off on Wednesday October 31st. Cubs, Bears, and White Sox in Chicago

It has been a long week of preparations for the Chicago Bears as they plan to take on
the St. Louis Rams this weekend in a home game at Soldier Field. There has been a
great deal of attention surrounding the Bears’ view on Jay Cutler and his performance
last week against the Green Bay Packers. However, as the Bears prepare to redeem
themselves after last weeks loss on their home field, more attention than normal has
been placed on the Chicago White Sox.

The Chicago White Sox may not have been at home this week, but they still managed
to hold the interest of Chicago sports fans from all over the country as they continued
on their bid to win the American League Central. A series of road wins this week that
the Sox are looking to translate into a weekend of road wins, hasn’t been the only
thing getting the attention of White Sox fans. During the Sox’s end of season away
stretch while all eyes are currently focused on current general manager Ken Williams.
According to reports issued from USA Today, Richards will be making a move to the
team’s president and assistant general manger Rick Hahn will be taking of Williams’
current managerial duties.

This proposed switch has been garnering a great deal of attention for the entire White
Sox franchise and while Chicago fans anxiously await to see the official inauguration of
Williams as president, the White Sox are staying focused on winning a championship
and finding success through their current long road stretch. While the Sox have been
finding luck on the road the Cubs have been holding down the fort back at Wrigley Field.
However, their recent home game efforts haven’t been without issues.

While the Cubs have had a ten day stay at home they have struggled against the
Cincinnati Reds and actually delivered the Reds the win they needed to secure the first
playoff spot of the year. However the Cubs have little time to dwell on their past issues
of the week as the defending World Series champions, the Saint Louis Cardinals are
making their way to Wrigley Field. This series promises to be one of the biggest of the
season as the Cubs desperately try to get their act back together and to overcome their
recent issues with taking on the Reds. The series against the Cardinals starts on Friday
and lasts through the weekend, do you have your Cubs tickets to this home series yet?

Big Weekend Coming

With a big weekend approaching in the Chicago sports world, both for the city’s MLS soccer team and for the NFL Chicago Bears, some of the biggest stories involving this weeks preparations involve injuries. With a few days left until either the Fire or the Bears take the field, both teams are finding key players will be missing or questionable for their weekend matches.

As the Chicago Fire prepare to take on the Columbus Crew at their home stadium of Toyota Park this weekend, they will be without a few key players. After last weeks matchup featured a roster without Daniel Paladini and Pavel Pardo, the Fire felt the pressure of playing without some of their key stars, despite putting forth a strong performance. While their September 15th matchup without the two players was undoubtedly difficult for the Fire to overcome, it seems as though their upcoming Sept. 22nd game will give the Fire similar issues. According to recent mid-week reports Cory Gibbs will be out of the game for right knee meniscus repair and Steven Kinney will be questionable as he deals with groin pain. Dan Gargan on the other hand, is listed as questionable for the upcoming Eastern Conference match up.

However, the Chicago Fire aren’t the only ones preparing for a home matchup that may be plagued by injury. It was revealed this week that the Bears’ star running back Matt Forte who fans thought was suffering from a high ankle sprain, actually has more serious of an injury than many assumed. It has been revealed that the running back is dealing with an actual ankle sprain and one that could have him struggling for longer than expected. Although it is unclear how long Matt Forte will be out, there is no denying that his absence will greatly impact the Bears’ already suffering offense.

It is currently unclear if Matt Forte will be able to play at all in the Bears’ week three game against the Saint Louis Rams. However, whether Forte is limited in his minutes or rides the bench the whole game, there is no denying that this injury means fans will be seeing more depth from the Bears in this upcoming home game. The Bears will be taking on the Rams Sunday at Soldier Field, so fans will want to get their tickets soon to find out who will be performing as the team’s running back.

Chicago Chicago

With the Chicago Bears on a break until the weekend, the Chicago Fire on a break until the end of the month, and the Blackhawks currently on a NHL lockout, it may seem as though there is little to look forward to for Chicago sports fans. This is especially true for fans while many MLB teams gear up for the play offs as both the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago White Sox find themselves done for the season. However there was some good news for Chicago Bulls fans as they saw their city’s basketball team return to the hard court for their first pre-season game of the year.

This pre season matchup took place Tuesday at the United Center in Chicago and featured a Bulls team that already looked good for early on in the season. The Bulls pulled out a win at their home pre-season opener in a close showdown against the Memphis Grizzlies. The late game play from players such as Taj Gibson helped the Bulls seal their victory against the Grizzlies and while the entire team looked ready for another successful season, most noticeably absent from the lineup was the Chicago Bulls’ star player Derrick Rose.

After Rose faced a number of injuries last year even while leading the team in scoring, and is taking as much time in the off season and pre-season to continue the recovery process until regular season play commences. Although the game against the Grizzlies was only a pre-season matchup, it was just the lift that Chicago sports fans were looking for in order to get them through the current drought and buy dissertation in the Chicago sports world. While there is still no word on the Blackhawks season which is still suspended until late October, fans can be expected to pay more attention than ever to the Bulls pre-season play as they gear up for the 2012-2013 season. The Bulls will have a game this Friday the 12th of October in nearby Champaign, IL against Cleveland and will be back in their home United Center on Tuesday the 16th against Milwaukee. You won’t want to miss this chance to see some great Chicago sports actions during this slow time in the sports season; do you have your pre-season Chicago Bulls tickets yet?

Chicago Sports Fans See Big Morale Boost After Weekend of Victories

Chicago Sports Fans See Big Morale Boost After Weekend of Victories

Over the weekend, Chicago sports fans had a lot to cheer about. In fact it was their enthusiastic cheering that got many Bears supporters in trouble on Sunday. On Sunday the Bears hosted their highly anticipated opening game against the Indiana Colts. Just as many fans expected, the Bears walked away from the face off with a 41-21 victory at their home stadium. While fans anxiously watched the Bears’ Jay Locker take the field, many noticed an entirely new type of hand signal coming from the quarterback. Locker was actually signaling to the fans at Soldier Field to quite down when the Bears offense was on the field.

The riled up fans around the stadium were having trouble controlling their excitement over the Bears early lead in the game, and Locker actually felt that the fans were too excited and that Soldier Field was simply too loud for him to hear his fellow teammates in the huddle. Coach Love Smith also echoed Cutler’s concerns after the game, stating he appreciates the enthusiasm of Chicago fans, but would prefer if they were only loud when the defense is on the field. While many sports commentators and spectators have been offering their opinions on the Bear’s concerns over fan noise, one thing is for sure; Chicago fans were certainly ready for the NFL season to start and buy papers online.

Not to be upstaged by the Bears big opening win, the Chicago Cubs hit the road to take on the Pirates this weekend, in an important late series season series that could greatly impact the rest of the Cubs season. With baseball heading into its final few weeks the Cubs needed a series sweep to hold their standings in the league. After suffering a sweep from the Pirates at home, the Cubs proved they were ready for vengeance, after winning their series ending with Sunday’s 4-2 win.

The win came at the perfect time for the Cubs after a rather substantial dry spell, and will give them the boost needed to take on the Astros on the road and then head back home on September 14th to face the Pirates again on their home field for a four game series. The Chicago Cubs will be looking to seek revenge from their last home meeting with the Pirates, do you have your tickets for the big games of this series?
