While Thursday night was quite at Soldier Field, the city of Chicago still anxiously awaited the big night’s big match up between the Chicago Bears and their rivals the Greenbay Packers. The Bears went on the road to Greenbay to face the Packers, and despite having a promising season opener against the Colts, the Bears were unable to pull out another victory. After a shocking faked field goal touchdown from the Packers the Bears faced their first defeat of the season 10-23. Despite the devastating loss will have a long week ahead of them to prepare for next Sundays games against the Rams in St. Louis.
While the Bears were out of town on Thursday, most of the city turned their attention to the Chicago White Sox Thursday night as they prepared for their last home game before a 10 game road trip. However, Chicago fans were dealt another disappointment when heavy rains cancelled the White Sox’s match up against the Detroit Tigers, causing the game to be postponed until Monday, September 17th. While the White Sox will be on the road all weekend, they will return home to Chicago on Monday to play in the makeup game.
This not only means the White Sox will make an appearance during what was supposed to be a 10 game away game streak, but baseball fans will get to see both home teams play on September 17th at Wrigley Field. After the White Sox take on the Tigers at 1:10 PM the Cubs will take the field against for the final game in the five game series against the Pirates at 7:05 PM that night.
While baseball fans gear up for what should be an exciting day in Chicago baseball on Monday, soccer fans are setting their sites on this weekend’s match up between the Chicago Fire and Montreal Impact. The Fire who have won five of their last 6 games is currently tied for 3rd in the MLS and looking to improve their rankings on Saturday. Chicago Sports Fans See Big Morale Boost After Weekend of Victories
Over the weekend, Chicago sports fans had a lot to cheer about. In fact it was their enthusiastic cheering that got many Bears supporters in trouble on Sunday. On Sunday the Bears hosted their highly anticipated opening game against the Indiana Colts. Just as many fans expected, the Bears walked away from the face off with a 41-21 victory at their home stadium. While fans anxiously watched the Bears’ Jay Locker take the field, many noticed an entirely new type of hand signal coming from the quarterback. Locker was actually signaling to the fans at Soldier Field to quite down when the Bears offense was on the field.
The riled up fans around the stadium were having trouble controlling their excitement over the Bears early lead in the game, and Locker actually felt that the fans were too excited and that Soldier Field was simply too loud for him to hear his fellow teammates in the huddle. Coach Love Smith also echoed Cutler’s concerns after the game, stating he appreciates the enthusiasm of Chicago fans, but would prefer if they were only loud when the defense is on the field. While many sports commentators and spectators have been offering their opinions on the Bear’s concerns over fan noise, one thing is for sure; Chicago fans were certainly ready for the NFL season to start.
Not to be upstaged by the Bears big opening win, the Chicago Cubs hit the road to take on the Pirates this weekend, in an important late series season series that could greatly impact the rest of the Cubs season. With baseball heading into its final few weeks the Cubs needed a series sweep to hold their standings in the league. After suffering a sweep from the Pirates at home, the Cubs proved they were ready for vengeance, after winning their series ending with Sunday’s 4-2 win.
The win came at the perfect time for the Cubs after a rather substantial dry spell, and will give them the boost needed to take on the Astros on the road and then head back home on September 14th to face the Pirates again on their home field for a four game series. The Chicago Cubs will be looking to seek revenge from their last home meeting with the Pirates, do you have your tickets for the big games of this series?
The Chicago Bears Make Last Minute Preparations for Colts Home Opener
This week the Chicago Bears have been preparing for their first game of the new season and although they have been picked as the favorites for their opening game, the Bears have been preparing to take on a potentially challenging competitor. As they prepare to face off against the Indianapolis Colts the Bears will be playing the first real season game against a completely Peyton Manning-free team and instead face the first year quarterback Andrew Luck. As the A normal Bears pre-game preparation routine against the Colts would inevitably include a major emphasis on taking on the unstoppable Manning, they have spent the week refocusing their efforts and learn to defend rookie QB Andrew Luck.
While the Bears defense will need to decide how to handle the talented new quarterback, the Bears offense has also been hard at work preparing for the new season and the first matchup against the Colts. Earlier this week Laurence Holmes urged fans to be patient with the new Bears offense as he told supporters that while they can expect connections between Cutler to Marshall, they may have some areas they will struggle with in their offense, but not to lose faith. As the team works to sweep away some cobwebs and rebuild their offense many have been focused on the status of star player Brian Urlacher.
After a suffering with a knee injury, and missing training camp, the Bears officially announced that #54 is on his way to making a full recovery. With a week of speculation and several missed practices, many assumed Urlacher would miss the team’s kick off game. However, late in the week, Kip Lewis announced that Urlacher would indeed be suiting up in Sunday’s matchup against the Indianapolis Colts. The Bears head coach assured fans that Urlacher was ready to play and to bring his famous, unstoppable energy to the Bears defense, assuring everyone that if the eight-time Prow Bowl middle linebacker wasn’t ready to play; he would not be stepping on the field.
Fortunately for fans, Urlacher has reiterated these notions assuring spectators that they can see him in the starting lineup on Sunday. Urlacher and the rest of the Bears team will be ready and fully prepared to take on the Colts this Sunday afternoon at Soldier Field; make sure you are prepared too with your Bears tickets to the big matchup.
The Cubs have been reeling so bad that they haven’t lead a game in the last 50 innings. It’s safe to say that the Cubs have hit rock bottom. Most of the games have been close or they had a legitimate shot to win them, but this last weekend at Wrigley was the exception. Their rivals from the south the White Sox beat them up pretty good. It was is always a very competitive crosstown classic the Sox came in and took it to them. Wrigley Field tickets this past weekend were very disappointing.
You could see blocks of open seats all throughout the ballpark all weekend & Friday was especially gaudy with the Cubs drawing a very embarrassing 35,000. Usually Cubs tickets for the crosstown classic are in very high demand. In fact all three games failed to sell out, a Wrigley first. With the Cubs ticketing gurus introducing their dynamic pricing meaning they set the prices at a price they deem responsible they seemed to have priced themselves out of reality.
When the new regime took over this winter they preached patience and that things would get worse before they got better. Well they were right. The Cubs came out of the gate having lost eleven of their first fourteen games. But the needle has moved in the right direction as of late. As Cubs Tickets have been selling quite nicely the last home stand & the team has responded with a couple of nice series. They hosted the Dodgers who boast the leagues best record & the first place Atlanta Braves and won 4 of the 6 meetings.
Cubs Tickets are sure to be at a fever pitch as a home series with their south-side rivals loom before a nice 3 week stretch of games against non .500 teams. Wrigley Field is always rocking come summertime, we just need the Cubs to do their part and keep it interesting.
Ever since Derrick Rose went down with a knee injury in Game 1 the Bulls look like a deer in headlights.. While the elite teams are getting stronger as the playoffs progress it seems like the Bulls are breaking down health wise. Bulls Tickets are still available for all games, but with Joakim Noah going down with an ankle injury Fri night & doubtful the rest of the series, it seems like the Bulls days might be numbered.
Bulls tickets are readily available as fans will flock to the United Center to cheer on the team with the NBA’s best regular season record, they just won’t see two of their starters. But having one the leagues best benches look for Tuesday nights game to be a dog fight.
Playoffs are right around the corner & teams are solidifying their rotations & getting everybody healthy. Except that’s not the case for the team with the leagues best record, the Bulls. They seem to be regressing. Derrick Rose has missed a third of the games with various injuries & Rip Hamilton who they signed in the off-season has missed just as many as Rose and now Luol Deng is out again with a rib injury he sustained in the last week.
People are still buying Bulls Playoff tickets rapidly, but if the Bulls are going to make a deep playoff run & challenge Miami for supremacy they need to get healthy and start playing together.
If they think they can figure it out on the fly they are sorely mistaken. There are veteran teams like the Celtics who have been through the playoff wars & are chomping at the bit to take down an unprepared upstart Bulls team.
Speculation continues on who the Browns are looking at for their #4 pick this year. With the top 2 QBs essentially spoken for it looks like the Browns are keeping their options open. The smart money says they’ll go offense. Their defense is not in terrible condition and they have all the offensive power of a model range air rifle.
Put it simply, they need help on offense and lots of it. With their wide receiver corp one of the worst in the league and their hoped-for franchise running back Peyton Hillis gone the offense some how looks like it could be worse than last year. And that is saying something cause the offense last year STUNK.
Get comfortable with this top 5 pick Browns fans, something tells me you’ll be back for another in 2013.
