Windy City Fun

The city of Chicago’s busies Arena; the United Center is once again the center of activity for events in the Windy City as it revealed several big announcements early in the week about important city wide events. Of course, as many fans know this weekend will be the highly anticipated showing of “Barbara Live!’ which will bring legendary signer Barbra Streisand to the city of Chicago in a once in a lifetime concert opportunity and a rare public performance from the talented singer and actress. As many are gearing up for the big Barbara Streisand concert set to take place at the United Center on October 26th other big news has hit the United Center. The venue announced that there are tickets currently still available for the highly anticipated December concert of the Dave Matthews Band and that fans who act quickly will be able to still get tickets to the big event.

While the Chicago music scene is excited to see both of these big acts come to the city, one of the biggest announcements for the city and for the United Center came this week from the sports world. The NHL recently announced that they would be officially canceling all of the games of the 2012-2013 regular season through November 1st. Although fans were understandably disappointed to hear that the cancellation of Blackhawks games would be extended an additional week, there was some silver lining for fans.

This means tentatively, one of the first NHL games of the season will be taking place right in Chicago and will feature the city’s beloved Blackhawks taking on Nashville in what is sure to be one of the most watched games of the season. The Blackhawks are set to finally kick their season off, weeks after their scheduled opening and will be taking the ice in their home arena of the United Center to play in front of thousands of adoring fans who have been waiting anxiously for the team to return. This first big game will take place Friday evening November 2nd at 7:30 PM at home. Tickets are already selling fast so those who want to see the Blackhawks for the first time this season in their highly anticipated home game will want to act quickly.
