311 Tickets
With the members Nick Hexum, S. A. Martinez, Aaron Wills, Tim Mahoney, and Chad Sexton, the band 311 has been active since 1988. Formed in Omaha, Nebraska, 311 incorporates a variety of styles. Although the band is generally categorized under rock, they are also known to bring a different sound such as punk, rap, funk and some reggae.
311 got their name when Jim Watson, a 311 former guitarist, was charged with indecent exposure by the Omaha Police Department. The former 311 member was skinny-dipping when the police were called which led to him being escorted home handcuffed and naked. This crime in the police code was cited as "3.11", and so the band name was born. In their early years, the band wanted to keep the reasoning behind "311" a secret, so fans could speculate on their own what "311" actually meant. However, the negative rumor that 311 stood for three of the eleventh letter in the English alphabet, K, or the Ku Klux Klan, the KKK. Because of the bad publicity, 311 were forced to reveal the truth behind what 311 meant.
The bands first major record, "Music" was released in 1993. Although the single: "Do You Right" received tons of airplay and the single peaked at #27 on the Billboard charts. The album as a whole failed to make the charts chart. Because of such a slow start, 311 lost support early on. Even early on fans with 311 tickets were treated to a very eclectic one of a kind concert experience. They would catch their first break with their self titled next release. That gave the band much needed momentum for their project "The Blue Album", which was to become the best selling 311 album to date. After touring extensively in support of the album, 311 would find themselves playing venues all over the country and 311 tickets soon some of the hottest in the country. Two years later, they would release "Transistor" which debuted at #4 on the "Billboard 200", 311's highest chart position. The album quickly went platinum and in 1999, MTV and radio airplay helped bump 311's popularity to new heights. After this unbelievable success, the band would re-release their earlier albums that would generate great success.
In 2001, with a new album, 311 showed off its reggae side with the single "Amber" that would be a very love ballad with lingering guitar play. Later, 311 covered the Cure's "Love Song," a song that became number one in the charts, a first time accomplishment for 311. Fans would turn out en mass for the band's tour and 311 tickets would be bought up in record numbers and the tour would keep the band on the road exclusively. Although the band would see a dip in sales, their concerts have still put up record numbers.
