Black Sabbath Tickets
The English rock band, Black Sabbath are known by many as being one of the biggest and most influential heavy metal bands of all time. The group was recently formed as a blues rock band in 1968, but then changed their direction once they began incorporating horror elements into their lyrics. By the early 1970s, the band would already by multi-platinum selling artists. The group, which was led famously by the eccentric Ozzy Osborne were pioneers of the heavy metal movement and paved the way for numerous rock bands to come during the 1980s and 1990s.
To date, the group has sol more than 15 million records in the United States alone and more than 70 million records world wide. In 2006, the group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The band made their name not only for their unique lyrics which dealt with social issues including war, political corruption and drug abuse, but for their stage presence. The entire group, particularly Osbourne were known for being not only over-the-top rock n’ rollers but for consistently trying to shock audiences. Osbourne who once famous bit the head off a live bird was known for scaring and shocking audiences during their high-energy performances.
Although the group is considered to be one of the biggest and most successful heavy metal groups of all times, they did face their struggles. Lead singer Ozzy Osbourne was fired from the group in the late 1970s due to his heavy alcohol and drug use. While Ozzy would go on to have an extremely successful solo career and sell more than 55 million albums world wide, the group would have difficulties maintaining a stable line up after Osbourne made his departure. With numerous members coming in and out of the group, Black Sabbath failed to have the same type of success in the 1980s and 1990s that they did during their earlier years.
After taking a break in 2006, in 2011 the original line-up announced that they would reunite and record a new album. Material from this new record, along with some of their biggest hits from the 1970s and 1980s will be played on the bands upcoming tours. In June of 2012 the group will headline the Download Festival and immediately head into their 2012 world tour.
