After rising to fame from his appearance on the hit reality television show, American Idol, David Cook showed the world he was much more than just a reality TV star. The singer/songwriter won the reality singing competition’s seventh season, which aired in 2008. Cook’s rock influenced sound and his honest and emotional self-penned songs have made the signer one of the most celebrated talents to graduate from the reality program. Just days after his victory on American Idol, the singer began breaking records and has maintained that level of success ever since, as his career continues to flourish.
In the week following his victory, Cook broke numerous Billboard Hot 100 records. This included his impressive accomplishment of having eleven songs debut on the list in just one week, breaking a record of six songs as once held by Miley Cyrus. His first hit single “Time of My Life” reached the number three spot on the chart.
Although American Idol helped launch his career, the singer has since shown his abilities outside of the shadows of the mega hit.
In addition to his Billboard Hot 100 records, his debut album went platinum. A year after his successful run on American Idol, Cook embarked on his first nation-wide headlining tour, giving fans a chance to see him live for the first time since his American Idol tour. The tour, deemed “The Declaration Tour,” was a major success and was extended two different times due to its extreme popularity. Cook’s high energy performances and impressive instrumentals, along side his band Midwest Kinds, captivated audiences in 153 different venues.
Hot off his successful tour, Cook began working on his second album, which featured collaborations with a number of other successful recording artists and gave fans a chance to see Cook stretch his talents and experiment with different styles of music. The album, titled “The Loud Morning,” was released in 2011. Cook hit the road once again to share the singles from this record with fans around the country as he joined forces with co-headliner, Gavin DeGraw. With numerous live since the commencement of his latest tours, and more new music in the works, fans have a lot to expect from performer in the future.
