Death Cab For Cutie Tickets
With their emotional and heart-felt lyrics and the unique sound of lead singer, Ben Gibbard, the band Death Cab For Cutie has made a name for themselves as one of the most respected indie rock bands in today’s music scene. The American rock band, first hit the music scene with their album You Can Play These Songs with Chords, a record that was originally released as a demo. After seeing success with the album, the group filled out their line up to record and release the LP, Something About Airplanes in 1998. The album received critical acclaim and became extremely popular in the independent music scene.
The band officially reached great commercial success in 2003. After they had several lineup changes, and were finally signed to a major long-term record deal with Atlantic Records, the band began appearing on numerous television and movie sound tracks. The films Wedding Crashers and Mean Creek featured Death Cab for Cutie music as did television shows like Californication, The O.C., CSI and Six Feet Under. Once their 2004 contract with Atlantic Records, the band released the album Plans; one of the group’s most successful albums.
Plans contained hits like “Crooked Teeth” and “Soul Meets Body” it also spawned appearances on Saturday Night Live and won the group a Grammy Award for Best Alternative Album in 2005. By 2006, Plans had been on the Billboard charts for 47 consecutive weeks and reached Gold Status; the album would go on to have platinum level success by 2008.
With their official breakthrough into the commercial music scene, Death Cab for Cutie wasted no time with their follow up albums, which is where 2008’s Narrow Stairs and 2009’s The Open Door EP were created. Narrow Stairs received Grammy Award nominations for best single and album, and The Open Door EP also received nominations for Best Alternative Music Album as well. The band would go on to receive another Best Alternative Music Album nomination in 2011 with their album Codes and Keys.
Codes and Keys also served as the inspiration for the bands world-wide 2012 tour. THe tour will take the group through New Zealand, Australia, Southeast Asia and parts of the United States. The band will conclude their world-wide jaunt by playing numerous summer festivals in Europe through the summer of 2012.
