Duran Duran Tickets
In the late 1970s when Duran Duran first came together in Birmingham, they had a British sound unlike any other. That unique sound would eventually go on to make the English New Wave band one of the most successful bands of the 1980s. The band not only saw tremendous success in their home country but managed to have great cross over success in the United States as well. In addition to having millions of adoring fans across the globe, Duran Duran is also credited with being one of the biggest influences in the MTV-driven “Second British Invasion” in the United States.
During their long and successful career, the pop rock group has had 14 different singles place in the top 10 of the UK Singles Charts and 21 in the Billboard Hot 100. They have also gone on to sell more than 100 million records around the globe. As the group rose to fame they became known not only for their upbeat synthpop sound but for their look as well. The group worked with fashion designers to create a sharp image for themselves and were often deemed ‘the prettiest boys in rock.’ They also were known for the image that they portrayed in their music videos. After being one of the first bands to use professional directors and 35 mm movie cameras for their videos, their music videos were some of the most innovative on the market at that time. They are often credited for helping transform the music video genre with their over-the-top professional grade videos.
The band also used video in other ways as well and were one of the first rock groups of the 1980s to use video technology in their live stadium shows. One of their first shows to ever use live video technology happened in 1984 and since then, the group has consistently used video to accent their performances and create larger-than-life experiences for their fans. After a few different line up changes and reunions throughout the years it has been consistently apparent that the world’s love affair with Duran Duran has never died.
It is this passion that fans have for their music and their technologically driven shows that caused the band to head back on the road in 2012 to tour the globe. After adding the London Summer Olympics 2012 Opening Ceremony to their tour schedule and playing to adoring fans around the globe it was clear that the world still loved hearing the music of Duran Duran.
