Jane’s Addiction Tickets
In 1985 four musicians, Perry Farrell, Dave Navarro, Eric Avery and Stephen Perkins came together to form what would be one of the most successful alternative rock bands of the late 1980s. The group was Jane’s Addiction and they were one of the first bands to emerge from the early 1990’s alternative rock music movement to get mainstream attention in the United States. This attention quickly turned into massive commercial success that i still having a major impact on music today.
During their time as a group they have had numerous hit records such as Nothing’s Shocking, Ritual de lo habitual, Strays and their most recent album The Great Escape Artist. They are known for their blatantly honest lyrics, hard rock sound and for their over the top performing antics. Their videos were famously banned from MTV in the late 1980s for graphic material and the band famously takes that hard core over the top presence on stage with them with every performance. These performances are what have made Jane’s Addiction one of the most respected bands in the alternative rock scene.
Their initial farewell tour actually spawned the now famous Lollapalooza festival and made the band the icons of the “Alternative Nation” of rock. This first breakup came in 1991 when the band was at the peak of their success. The festival not only included Jane’s Addiction but other bands such as The Violent Femmes, Ice-T and Nine Inch Nails. Although they have split up and come back together a handful of times, they officially reformed in 2008 and decided to record new material in 2010 without the presence of former bass player Eric Avery. After recording new hits and finding they still had great commercial success with fans, they launched their Theatre of the Escapists Tour in 2012. The concert launched in Saint Louis, Missouri at The Pageant Theatre in the town’s famous Loop area and almost instantly sold out.
The band is continuing on with this tour where Jane’s Addiction will be visiting venues across the country and performing some of their biggest hits to date. They will also be playing a number of their new songs from The Great Escape Artist for the many fans who have been waiting for years for the group to release new material.
