Pink is an American musician and actress. Her given name was Alecia Beth Moore; however, she has performed under the stage name of Pink. Moore is from Abington, Pennsylvania, and grew up in a musical household. She got her start at 14 performing around Philadelphia, and formed Choice with two other teenagers, Stephanie Galligan and Chrissy Conway. Their song “Key to My Heart” was put on the Kazaam soundtrack. The group disbanded in 1998.
Pink released her first single in February of 2000, “There You Go,” which reached the #7 spot on the Billboard Hot 100. That would go on to be the first of three singles off her debut solo album, Can’t Take Me Home. The album received four stars by Q Magazine, and peaked at #26 on the Billboard 200, and was certified Platinum twice over. The album’s other two singles, “Most Girls” and “You Make Me Sick” also charted on the Billboard Hot 100, with “Most Girls” reaching the #4 spot on the Billboard chart and the top spot on the Australian singles chart.
After contributing to the Moulin Rouge! Soundtrack with the remake of “Lady Marmalade,” which reached the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100, she released Missundaztood in 2001. The album peaked at #6 on the Billboard 200, and sold an astounding 5.5 million copies in the United States, giving it Platinum certification five times over. The album was so successful in the UK, that it was the 37th best-selling album of the 2000s in the UK, and the 94th best-selling album of all-time.
Try This came out in 2003 to mixed critical reception, as critics panned her at times for attempting to imitate herself from Missundaztood. The album still faired well on the charts, peaking at #9 on the Billboard 200. After a three year hiatus to recover from the weak showing of Try This, Pink came out with I’m Not Dead in response to the poor showing from her prior album. The album featured seven singles, and held the top spot in four different countries and peaked at #6 on the Billboard 200.
In 2008, she released Funhouse, which peaked at #2 on the Billboard chart and was certified eleven times Platinum in Australia. In 2012, she released The Truth About Love, her first #1 album in the United States. The album has reached the top spot in eight different countries and has already been certified four times Platinum.
