The band The Eagles is one of the most iconic rock bands in all of music history. Their music has been heard by millions of fans all over the world, and they have set numerous records in their long and prosperous career in the industry. The band The Eagles first came together in 1971 and since their formation they have been solidifying themselves as one of the biggest names in rock n’ roll history.
Throughout the group’s career, The Eagles have had five number one singles, had six number one albums, won five American Music Awards and six Grammy Awards. Two of their albums, Their Greatest Hits and Hotel California have been tanked as two of the 20 best selling albums in the United States according to the RIAA. The bands Their Greatest Hits album is estimated to have sold around 42 million copies worldwide alone.
During the 1970s, at the peak of the band’s popularity, The Eagles were the highest selling band in the decade, with no American band selling more records than the group during the 70s. Since then the band has sold a total of 120 million albums worldwide and cemented themselves as one of the five highest selling music acts in history. In 1998, the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Despite their success, the band broke up for a period of time beginning in 1980. However, in 2007, they released their first full studio album in 28 years, titled Long Road Out of Eden. Even with their break from music, which lasted longer than many artist’s careers, the band showed to still have their same knack for delivering hit music. The 2007 album went on to top numerous album charts, and include five hit singles that would appear on the Adult Contemporary Charts. The album also won the band two Grammy Awards and sparked the 2008 Long Road Out of Eden Tour. With their ability to succeed in the modern day music industry very apparent, The Eagles decided to extend the tour which has continued through 2012 and has dates set through the end of the year. Hot off their success with this album, the band has publicly stated their intentions of recording another studio album and delivering fans with even more new music to enjoy.
