Toby Keith is an American country singer-songwriter and record producer. He became interested in a musical career very early as a child, after having watched musicians play at his grandmothers Oklahoma club. After having worked in oil fields, he decided to try his hand at music and formed The Easy Money Band. They would end up playing local bars and clubs in Oklahoma and Texas where fans would turn out en masse to get Toby Keith tickets for his band. It wasn't until 1993, when Keith decided to relocate to Nashville, and when a fan gave a copy of Keith's demo to a Mercury Records executive, he liked what he heard and wanted to hear more. His 1993 Mercury debut single, "Should've Been a Cowboy" went to number 1 on the Billboard country singles chart, and his self-titled debut album would soon went platinum.

It was then fans got their first taste of Toby Keith as a major recording artist. Keith followed up his new found fame with the album "Blue Moon" in 1996. Its first two singles reached the top ten. Keith would soon leave Mercury for a sweeter with DreamWorks Records.

Keith's Dream Works debut, "How Do You like Me Now!" was released in 1999 and started to bring him wider recognition. The album was won Keith his first awards, winning the 2001 Academy of Country Music Male Vocalist of the Year and Album of the Year. Keith also began to cross over into acting, appearing on the TV series "Touched by an Angel" and in a "Dukes of Hazzard" TV movie as well as starring in various commercials. His 2001 album Pull My Chain became his first Top Ten pop album, containing three number one singles. Keith gained more attention amidst controversy over "Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue (The Angry American)", a song about the September 11 attacks. The media attention over his feud with Peter Jennings, who removed Keith from an ABC Fourth of July special because of the song, along with his spat with Dixie Chicks singer Natalie Maines only boosted Keith's' popularity. The song went to number one on the country charts and crossed over into the mainstream Top 25. His next release would be entitled "Unleashed", it would debut at number one and it would also bring Keith his greatest success to date.

Recently Keith has released his latest album "That Don't Make Me a Bad Guy" The first single has hit number one and he has been touring in support of the new album.
