Ben Folds Five Tickets
After coming together in 1993 the alternative rock trio Ben Folds Five soon took off to become one of the biggest bands of their generation. The group consists on Ben Folds who plays piano, keyboard and dose the lead vocals, Robert Sledge who plays bass and Darren Jessee on drums and percussion. Their sound is described as everything from alternative rock to piano rock although they take influences from jazz, indie and pop music as well. For seven years the band toured and recorded together and released hit albums like Whatever and Ever Amen, and featured singles such as their major hit “Brick.”
Whatever and Ever Amen would eventually go on to reach platinum status, and the band had other hit records as well including The Unauthorized Biography of Reinhold Messner, Naked Baby Photos and the self-titled Bens Fold Five all before the group broke up in 2000. During this hiatus thousands of fans from all over the world waited anxiously for the group to come back together. After doing a single performance in 2008 at the UNC Memorial Hall in Chapel Hill, many expected a full comeback. However, it wasn’t until 2011 that Ben Folds Five began recording together again.
Finally in 2012 at the Mountain Jam Festival Ben Folds Five was announced as a main headliner much to the delight of fans who came out in droves to support the newly reformed group. The band also took 2012 as an opportunity to announce their appearances at Bonnaroo and Summerfest as well proving that the group truly was back into today’s music scene. While appearing at Summmerfest the group announced that they had finished recording their new album and their first full length record in 13 years. The album titled, The Sound of the Life of the Mind, is slated for a fall 2012 release. The group also announced that they would be doing a full American tour in support of their new album.
This tour, lasting through the fall of 2012 would take the band through the United States into November where the group would then tour in the Ireland and the UK. During these performances fans can expect to hear the hit songs that first made the group famous as well as plenty of new tracks from their upcoming album.
