Coldplay formally known as Starfish is an alternative rock band which started in 1996 by Chris Martin, lead vocalist and Jonny Buckland, lead guitarist while attending the University of College London. After Chris and Jonny formed the British band, Guy Berryman and Will Champion joined them. Guy joined the group as a bassist, and Will joined as a drummer. For the first two years, the band was called Starfish and in 1998 they changed their name to Coldplay.

Coldplay’s next album that was released was X&Y, which ended up being a best selling album worldwide in 2005. They were on their way to seeing even more success as time went on. In 2008, the band released their fourth album, Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends. Not only did the album receive a lot of positive reviews, but it also received several Grammy nominations and wins at the Grammy Awards. Coldplay started their career off with almost instant success winning several music awards, always topping the music charts and selling over 50 million albums worldwide. They are considered one of the most successful, most recognized and influential bands of today.
