Singer Gregg Allman was born in Nashville, Tennessee and into the influence of America’s country music capitol. As the singer grew up in the Tennessee town he was introduced to the blues and country sound of the area and used those influences to develop a musical style all his own. While many critics may argue over the type of sound Allman creates, there is no denying the signer, guitarist and keyboardist’s raw musical talent.
Allman has had his own successful solo career and also great success with his blues group, The Allman Brothers Band. Gregg Allman was a founding member of the group and even with his solo ventures on the side, still tours with the band today. Even though his group The Allman Brothers had early success in the 1970s, after the death of Allman’s brother and band member in 1971, Gregg Allman embarked on his first venture as a solo artist. Allman continued to create successful records for several decades and in 2011, proved that he still had the commercial appeal to be successful in today’s industry, when he released his Grammy Award nominated album Low Country Blues.The year 2012 will mark another nation-wide tour to add to Gregg Allman’s successful history of tours. Allman has famously struggled with numerous health issues, which he details in his musical memoirs My Cross to Bear. However, despite certain health complications, the singer still tours.
