With a sound that has been described as American Chicano rock, the Texas-formed family band Los Lonely Boys, has been delivering music unlike any other to fans around the country. The group’s sound is a mixture of pop, rock and Latin music and is constantly changing with every new album they produce. Their musical sound came from the influence of their father, Ringo Garza Senior, a singer who formed the group The Falcones with his brothers in the 1970s. Ringo Garza Senior is actually featured on a few of the band’s songs.
When the rock trio, which consists of brothers Henry JoJo and Ringo Garza, first emerged in today’s music scene with the release of their smash debut single, “Heaven,” a song that went on to reach the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 list. The single was part of their self titled album that went double platinum in the United States This song “Heaven” also earned the band their first Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group.
The group has not only had their own success but they have collaborated with some of the biggest names in the music industry, including legendary guitar player Carlos Santana and Willie Nelson. They have released several albums including a tribute album called “1969,” a compilation record, two live albums, and a Christmas album. Their latest effort, released in 2011, is an album titled “Rockpango,” which means “rock party,” and was designed to be the band’s most up beat and pop-centered release to date.
From 2009-2010, the band took their show on the road and played over 200 shows on their nation-wide tour. Since the release of “Rockpango,” the band has decided to hit the road once again, playing in numerous music festivals around the country through the summer of 2012. Although the group isn’t embarking on their own tour, they are playing numerous festivals including the Latin Music Festival, and shows in Austin, where the band now resides. With a sound that appeals to Latin music lovers, pop music fans, and rockers alike, the band delivers musical stylings that fans of all ages love.
