Neil Diamond is a singer-songwriter who has a career that started back in the 60s and is still going through the present. He has sold over 100 million records worldwide. He is considered the third most successful contemporary artist ever to be on the Billboard charts.
He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1984 and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2011. He has won several Grammy Awards and Golden Globe Awards. Also, he has earned other notable awards over the course of his career.

Before Neil got into music, he studied medicine at a university and took on a gig for penning tunes for a music publishing company. In the early 60s, he started his singing career which initially wasn’t successful until later on. He ended up writing hits for bands like The Monkees until the mid 60s when he finally got his first hit called “Solitary Man.” After he got more successful hits, and he decided to move to Los Angeles.
As time went on, he went from a rock sound to his music to a pop sound which ended being what made Neil famous across the world. You may hear other versions of his songs being sung by legends like Johnny Cash.
Most recently in December 2011, he accepted an honor at the 2011 Kennedy Center Honors Gala. Plus, The Very Best of Neil Diamond is a compilation CD of Neil’s 23 studio recordings.
