Rob Zombie is an American musician, screenwriter, film director and film producer. He founded the heavy metal band White Zombie in 1985 and was nominated three times for solo artist for the Grammy Awards for Best Metal Performance. It is rare to find a performer who has so many talents from when he started with his band to his solo career and even to directing movies.
White Zombie was known for combining heavy metal music with driving guitar riffs. The band’s music was not about life but about the surreal instead. They achieved success with their albums going double and triple platinum, and their songs were featured in some movies and TV shows. The music was different than other rock bands as the lyrics were influenced by horror films and pseudo-Satanic imagery.
Rob Zombie’s solo career continues to boom while fans witness his eerie stage shows. Some of his hits include; “Dracula,” “Living Dead Girl,” and “Superbeast.”
As a film director, the movies he has created include; House of 1000 Corpses, The Haunted World of El Superbeasto, The Devil’s Rejects, remake of Halloween and its sequel. A movie in the works is The Lords of Salem, which will premiere in theaters in 2012.
In 1996, Rob collaborated with Alice Cooper on the song “Hands of Death (Burn Baby Burn)” for the TV show, X-Files. The song was later nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance.
In 1998, he made his solo debut with Hellbilly Deluxe, which sold more copies in the first week than any of the White Zombie albums before its release.
In 1999, the band split up and Rob moved on with a full-time solo career. Soon after, he started his own label called Zombie-a-Go-Go Records. He helped other bands with recording their music while creating demented mix CDs like Halloween Hootenanny. Rob is known for his horror and sci-fi music lyrics.
Rob Zombie started his career as front man of the White Zombie band and spooked fans during their live shows.
