Smokey Robinson Tickets
The American R&B legend, Smokey Robinson, born William Robinson Jr., has been known for decades as one of the biggest figures in music. The singer/songwriter, record executive and producer has paved the way for many popular music acts today and remains a huge influence for artists in music today. One of his most notable accomplishments was being the founder and frontman for the Motown group, The Miracles. The group was one of the most influential in developing the Motown name and genre of music. Smokey’s influence on Motown and on soul music in general would eventually lead him to a seat as vice president of Motown.
While Robinson has been instrumental in the success of Motown records, he is known mostly for his musical career. Robinson has had numerous hit singles both with his group and during his successful solo career. Robinson’s solo career began after he took a year break from music and his group. His solo career included recordings of numerous hit singles including “Sweet Harmony,” “The Agony and the Ecstasy,” “Baby Come Close,” and “Baby That Backatcha.” The singer also won Grammy Awards for his solo career and received great chart success with many of his singles, including his famous song “Crusin.”
Even though the height of the Smokey’s success was during the 1970s, he never stopped recording for good. He eventually came back to Motown and took a small break in the 90s and eventually made a big comeback that featured numerous tours and hit records. Not only is Smokey a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but he has also been inducted into the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame, received National Medal of Arts, a Heritage Award at the Soul Train Music Award and numerous honorary degrees.
Robinson is known for his moving and soulful performances that highlight his deep and soothing voice. He will be bringing his iconic performance style to audiences around the country during his 2012 tour which will take the performer to large venues across the United States. During the tour, Robinson will be performing some of his new tracks as well as old favorites that fans from Robinson’s early days are sure to enjoy.
