Steve Winwood Tickets
While he is most famously known for his soulful pop music hits that made him a star in the 1980’s, Steve Winwood’s career is far longer and more successful. His distinctive voice and expert keyboarding skills have made the artist one of the most varied and accomplished performers in music history. The singer has been a part of numerous bands throughout his career including Go, Traffic, The Spencer Davis Group and Go. He was also inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for his work with Traffic. In addition to his successful, commercial projects, Winwood actually is one of the most in-demand session musicians in the music industry, which has allowed him to collaborate with numerous artists and to create a name for himself in the business.
Steve’s music career actually began at the young age of 15, and he quickly began playing live with many blues and soul acts and recording with these musicians in studio. Although the majority of his early career was in the pop and blues genres, the singer eventually started into more cutting edge rock n’ roll in the mid 1960s. Winwood began recording with numerous bands and had great success mainly in the U.K. and even went on to collaborate with acts like Eric Clapton.
After spending some time perfecting his solo album he released his debut record in 1986. The result was a sophisticated pop album called Back in the High Life, which featured outside session musicians. The album was unlike any other album in pop music of the time and sold more than three million copies. The album also berthed the artist’s first number one single “Higher Love,” a song that still gets the artist major recognition today. This song also won the singer a Grammy Award for Record of the Year.
What has made Winwood such a successful act has been his energetic live performances. He is known for not only his soothing vocals but for his instrumentals during his performances as well. Even with numerous tours under his belt during the past few decades, Winwood is still touring and doing live performances. In 2012, the singer is set to head out on the road on his own to play some of his most successful solo songs live to his fans all across the country.
