Sublime Tickets
The punk rock group Sublime first formed in 1988 in Long Beach, California and the original lineup achieved some commercial success until they broke up in 1996 after the death of lead singer Bradley Nowell. During their time together Sublime released three studio albums, five compilation albums and a live album as well. The group’s first two albums; 40 Oz. to Freedom and Robbin’ the Hood, were fairly popular in the United States. However, the release of the group’s third album, their self-titled record, was their biggest record to date.
This album was released shortly after the death of Bradley Nowell and it peaked at the #13 spot on the Billboard Hot 200. This album would go on to reach multi-platinum level. The record also contained the band’s number one single “What I Got.” Even though their lead singer died during their rise to fame, the band would go on to sell more than 17 million albums world-wide and 10 million records in the United States alone. Many experts in the industry actually credit the group for spearheading the renewed interest in mainstream punk music in the United States during the 1990s.
Although the band’s surviving members attempted to get former group members back together in 2009 under the Sublime name; they were forbidden to use the band name as Nowell owned the rights for the name Sublime. However, after a year of legal debate the group was permitted to rise again under the name Sublime with Rome; referring to Rome Ramirez, the new lead singer of the reformed Sublime.
Although the band Sublime with Rome has made numerous public appearances; they are unable to tour or perform under the name Sublime. However, with numerous members from the original Sublime group back together, fans looking to enjoy the original sound that first made the original group famous, still have the opportunity to do so. Sublime with Rome continues to play some of the original band’s most famous hits as well as newly penned singles. In 2012, the newly formed group will head out on a nation-wide tour that will bring them face-to-face with original Sublime fans and admirers of the new group as well. The 2012 tour will take the band around to some of the biggest venues in the country to show fans that they still have that same entrancing punk rock sound.
