The B 52’s Tickets
The band the B 52’s is known for being one of the most innovative bands in the New Wave genre of music. The group first formed in 1976, although they went under a lineup change in 1985 after the death of guitar player Ricky Wilson. The band was known for experimenting with numerous genres in music but mostly playing homage to light hearted 1960’s rock n’ roll. One of the many things that made the band stand out from others in the industry was their “call and response style” of music that featured mens and women’s alternating vocals. The high-energy pop-punk group has based their success on creating fun and upbeat songs.
Although the group had several successful hits and records especially during the late 1980s and early 1990s; one of the most successful songs ever released was the single “Love Shack.” This was their first top 40 hit and came off of their 1989 album Cosmic Thing. The band also achieved success on the charts when they recorded the title song for the live action Flinstones movie in 1994. They also recorded the theme song for Rocko’s Modern Life; a hit Nickelodeon Series and the film Pokemon: The Movie 2000.
After the band opened for Cher on her Farewell Tour they achieved a resurgence in their popularity. They released three remix Eps albums and made appearances on television shows like The Today Show, Good Morning America, Live! with Regis and Kelly, Saturday Night Live, The Rosie O’Donnell Show and The Tonight Show. This showed fans around the world that the band still had a profitable career ahead of them. This spawned the creation of their first original album in 16 years; Furplex, which was released in 2008.
This album debuted at the #11 spot on the charts and motivated the band to head out on numerous back to back tours. The B-52’s continue to tour today doing up to 60 shows and festival appearances a year. Tickets can be purchased year round to see the group’s live, fun-filled and high energy performances that still have audiences up and dancing today. Their current shows include mainly tracks from their new album Furplex, and usually a performance of their most memorable single “Loveshack,” for diehard fans to enjoy.
