Once Upon A Time- How It All Began
U2 was formed in Dublin, Ireland in 1976. 15 year old Larry Mullen joined hands with Bono (Paul Hewson), the Edge (David Evans), Adam Clayton and Dick Evans to form 'the Feedback'. When Dick Evans left the band in 1977, they changed their name to U2. The post punk sound band got its first big break in 1978, when they won a Guinness Talent and got themselves a manager-Paul McGuinness. In 1980, they released their first album- Boy. The music was sweeping, encompassing yet edgy and far removed from their post punk beginnings. Their tours and gigs took Boy to the American Top70 and British Top 20 in early 1981. In 1983, U2 released their breakthrough album- War. It stormed the UK charts at the top position and US charts on number 12. The international hits hadstrong political messages as with songs like "Sunday Bloody Sunday" and "New Year's Day." Post 'War' the band was launched in to the space of international fame. The 1987 album 'The Joshua Tree' gifted U2 the super-stardom they always deserved. The band has moved forward since and enjoys a huge fan following till date.
