Styx Tickets
Styx is an American rock band that formed in the 70s. The band is best known for their melding style of progressive rock with the power of strong ballads with playing hard rock guitar. They became famous from their albums from the late 70s and early 80s.
Some of their hit songs include; “Come Sail Away,” “Babe,” “Too Much Time on My Hands,” “Mr. Roboto,” “Lady,” Show Me the Way,” and “The Best of Times.” Over the course of their careers, the band has had four consecutive albums that were certified multi-platinum by the RIAA.
Styx started as an artsy progressive rock band that would eventually turn into a virtual arena rock prototype by the late 70s because of their soaring power ballads. Over the years, they released six live albums, 15 studio albums, 14 compilation albums and 31 singles.
The current band members are James Young, Chuck Panozzo, Tommy Shaw, Todd Sucherman, Lawrence Gowan and Ricky Phillips.
Some of their albums include; Styx in 1972, Styx II in 1973, The Serpent Is Rising in 1974 and Man of Miracles in 1975. The band didn’t start seeing success until their track “Lady” from their second album hit radio stations in 1974. The song quickly shot to number six on the singles chart, and it wasn’t long before Styx II went certified gold.
From 1977 – 1981, Styx released four consecutive albums that have been certified multi-platinum albums by the RIAA. Styx was the first band to release four consecutive Triple-Platinum albums which were Paradise Theater, Pieces of Eight and The Grand Illusion. Their album Cornerstone ended up being a Double-Platinum album in 1984. In 2005, they achieved another Double-Platinum album with Greatest Hits (Volume I).
Styx was one of the best selling bands of the 70s and the 80s because of their talent and amazing songwriting abilities. The band would consistently sell albums and concert tickets in record numbers. There was not any other band that was able to perform the guitar-heavy ballads better than Styx. Their newest album is Big Bang Theory was released in support of their tour.
