The Monkees Tickets
The American rock band the Monkees are still known today for being one of the most innovative and original rock bands to ever hit the American stage, even with their highly unusual beginnings. When they first came together in the 1960’s they were formed for the American television series title The Monkees, a hit program that aired until 1968. In the show, the band played a quartet of the same name who were supposed to be an imaginary group looking for success like The Beatles, only to find that their success would never come. However, as art began imitating life, the group soon transitioned into a real band and started developing their own fans and their own unique sound that garnered them a great deal of success in the United States.
Even after the sitcom that first brought The Monkees to fame, the band continued to record, finding great commercial success with their albums. Soon their songs began to reach audiences outside of the U.S. as they found great success with hits such as “Last Train to Clarksville” “Daydream Believer” and “I’m a Believer.” Soon, just as the band’s television alter egos long dreamed of, The Monkees reached the pinacle of their success and outsold both the Rolling Stones, and their idols The Beatles.
Even with several breakups and reunions The Monkees still come back together and deliver that same up-beat and unique sound that first shot them to fame. To date, they have sold more than 65 million copies around the world and remain as one of the top selling rock bands of all times. After the band took some recent time off, including time to mourn the death of original member Davy Jones, in 2012 the band announced they would be doing another reunion tour.
Beginning in November of 2012, original members of The Monkees will come back together under the band’s old name to perform some of the hit songs that first made them a household name around the globe. The reunion tour will take the group to large arenas world wide, where they will use the same upbeat sound to deliver old favorites and new selections as well to fans both young and old as they prove that even with decades in the business The Monkees are still one of the most unique and high-energy bands that rock music has ever seen.
