Leonard Cohen started his career after having some success as a poet and novelist, until he realized the potential income of being a songwriter. From the moment he began writing and then performing music, he began to get serious respect within the industry and many recording artists and record labels began to take notice. Perhaps his biggest hit of all time came when he penned the now famous song “Hallelujah.” This has been one of the most covered songs in all of music. Although the hit was most famously covered by singer Jeff Buckley, over 200 artists have released covers of the moving and lyrically driven song thanks to the creative works of Leonard Cohen.
While his list of professional accomplishments is impressive to say the least, it is Cohen’s stage presence and enchanting on stage performances that he is best known for. The year 2012 will mark yet another world-wide tour for the singer as he journeys around the globe playing some of his oldest hits and new songs from his 2012 album “Old Ideas.” Even in his late seventies, despite questions from others about his age, Cohen still puts on live performances to reach out to fans and deliver his enchanting performances with his impressive musical stylings and his deep and unmistakable voice. He has proven year after year that there is no slowing him down and that his live performances are consistently better than ever and his 2012 tour presents yet another opportunity for Cohen to display his longstanding ability to entertain.
