Lynyrd Skynyrd Tickets
When American rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd first rose to fame during the 1970s the world had never seen or heard anything quite like this Southern hard rock band. For more than four decades, the group has maintained that same appeal for fans around the world and many of their biggest hits such as “Sweet Home Alabama” and “Free Bird” are just as popular today as they were when they were first released. During their time as a group the band has seen a great deal of success with their down-home take on rock n’ roll, however, they have also seen a great deal of hardship as well. During the peak of their success in 1977, three of the original members of Lynyrd Skynyrd were killed in an airplane crash.
After the remaining members of the group took a decade off to heal from the Lynyrd Skynyrd came back together in 1987 to show the world that they had the perserverance to move forward from this tragedy and to do what they do best; make rock music. When they reformed in the 1980s original lead singer Ronnie Van Zant’s younger brother Johnny took his siblings place as front man of the group and Lynyrd Skynyrd found the new life that they needed to keep touring. After performing one reunion tour in 1987 it was apparent that rock n’ roll fans had been waiting for ten long years to see the group together again as the band received a tremendous welcoming back into the popular music scene.
Since coming back together in 1987 Lynyrd Skynyrd has continued performing around the world and continued recording music that their fans adore. In 2006 the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, officially cementing themselves as one of the biggest rock bands in the world. The group has received great critical acclaim, garnered the attention of millions of adoring fans and are one of the most honored groups among their peers in rock n’ roll today. Numerous bands have done tributes and covers of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s work to show their support of the group that not only overcame hardship but paved the way for a new type of southern based rock in rock n’ roll music. Today, the band is still touring and those looking to see their performances live can catch them on their nation-wide tour lasting through 2012.
