Primus Tickets
With their quirky approach to rock music that has been described as everything from “thrash-funk” to progressive metal to, self-proclaimed, psychedelic polka; there is no denying that the band Primus has emerged as one of the most unique sounding groups in recent rock history. The band formed back in 1984 in El Sobrante, California. However it wasn’t until 1990 that the band signed with their first major label, Interscope Records. After the 1991 release of their first major label album, Sailing the Seas of Cheese, the band began to reach commercial success and even toured as opening acts for bands like Rush, U2 and Anthrax.
While the band began seeing success and even made multiple appearances on the Billboard Top 10; they did not take the traditional commercial approach to making it in the rock industry. The band; whose songs all possessed a certain amount of comedic influence began appearing in movies like Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure and creating music for comedic television shows like Beavis and Butthead and Southpark. With album names like Miscellaneous Debris and Pork Soda, it was clear to fans that this group was able to have a good time and to take a humorous approach to their musical careers.
This fun-loving attitude could not only be seen in the band’s albums put in their live performances as well. After headlining events like the Woodstock ’94 Music Fetival and the alternative rock festival Lollapalooza; the band gained even more recognition as fans saw their high-energy, over-the-top performances that were consistently peppered with the band’s infamous jokes. Primus took a break from touring in 2006, but hit the road four years later for their Unnamed Summer Tour, to find that fans were still eager to see the band’s one-of-a-kind performances live.
In 2012 the band will be hitting the road for yet another country-wide tour. This concert tour will take the group on a summer-long journey through the United States as they bring their latest songs and their ever-present comedic influence to the stage and to fans from all over. With numerous fans of the band’s original work and new fans catching on to the groups unique style daily; there is no denying that the unmistakable sound of Primus has appealed to audiences of all ages.
