Creighton Bluejays Men’s Basketball Tickets
The Creighton Bluejays men’s basketball team is a Division I program for Creighton University. The team is located in Omaha, Nebraska and play their home games at the CenturyLink Center Omaha. The CenturyLink Center Omaha has a capacity of 18,320 people and was built in 2003. The team plays in the Missouri Valley Conference. The team is currently coached by Greg McDermott. In the two years where McDermott has served as head coach, the team has finished with a record of 52-21, with a trip to the CBI Finals and a berth into the NCAA Tournament last season. In 2012, the team finished 29-6, winning the conference tournament and advancing to the NCAA Tournament’s Third Round.
Creighton has been successful for quite a bit of time, achieving conference championships throughout their early history, winning five in the 1930s and three more in the 1940s. The 1941 season saw the team make its first appearance in the NCAA Tournament. It would take until 1962 for the team to make it back to the NCAA Tournament where they reached their first Sweet Sixteen. The team then returned to the Tournament in 1964, once again reaching the Sweet Sixteen. Throughout the course of the team’s history, the Bluejays have made 17 NCAA Tournaments and ten NIT’s. The Bluejays have featured one first-team All-American in their history, Doug McDermott in 2012. The team also has won fourteen regular season conference championships in the Missouri Valley Conference, as well as eleven conference tournament championships.
The team has featured 24 players that have gone on to be selected in the NBA Draft, most recently, Kyle Korver in the 2003 draft. Of those players, two have been selected in the first round: Benoit Benjamin in 1985, and Bob Portman in 1969. One of Creighton’s biggest rivalries in recent vintage has been with the Southern Illinois Salukis. Between the two teams, they have won seven of the last eleven MVC regular-season championships, and either or both teams have made the postseason in 21 of the past 23 years.
