Florida St. Seminoles History
The Florida St. Seminoles were established in 1947. They achieved the success under the coaches Don Veller and Tom Nugent. In 1950, the Noles scored 8-0. This became their first unbeaten season ever for any Florida college. In 1958, when the team was coached by Nugent, they won their first win over an SEC opponent with a 10-0 victory against Tennessee. The Seminoles beat the Florida Gators for the first time in 1964 and clinched their first major bowl bid. They became one of the nation's most competitive football teams under head coach Bobby Bowden. The Noles won the championship in 1993 and 1999. They posted 89% winning percentage during the 1990’s and became the most successful team in college football. During 1980s and 1990s, the Seminoles had 14 consecutive seasons with 10 or more wins and they finished most of the seasons within top five teams. The team has won fifteen conference titles, which includes twelve ACC titles and title of inaugural champions of the ACC Championship Game, also three Atlantic Division titles, ten state championships, two national championships. The team play their home games at Doak Campbell Stadium. It is situated on the campus of the Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida.
