Kansas Jayhawks History
The Kansas Jayhawks were founded in 1890. They are one of the oldest team of the nation. The team faced the Iowa State on October 6, 1990. The game ended in a tie with a score of 34-34. The Jayhawks gave their first bowl game appearance in 1947. The team battled with Georgia Tech but failed to win the game. After few seasons, the Jayhawks made to it to the bowl game in 1961. They faced the Rice in Bluebonnet Bowl and defeated them with 33-7. The team defeated the Houston and won the Fort Worth Bowl in 2005. On November 25, 2006, the Jon Cornish rushes for 1,457 yards in the season finale and broke the previous record of 1,442 yards set by Tony Sands in 1991. The Kansas defeated Iowa State by a score of 45-7 on November 17, 2007. By doing so, the team moved 11-0 for the first time in school history. The team made it to the FedEx Orange Bowl in 2007 and defeated the Virginia Tech with 24-21. In 2009 season, the Kansas Jayhawks beat the UTEP by a score of 34-7. They went 20-2 in their last 22 non-conference games since 2005. The Kansas Jayhawks play their home games at Memorial Stadium.
