Kansas State Wildcats Mens Basketball Tickets
The Kansas State Wildcats men’s basketball team is a Division I program for Kansas State University. The team is located in Manhattan, Kansas and plays their home games at the Bramlage Coliseum. The Bramlage Coliseum has a capacity of 12,528 people and opened in 1988. The arena is known for being one of the toughest places for opponents to play, as the team held a record of more than a dozen straight years with a winning record at home. One reason why the arena is so difficult to play in is that the arena has eight sides. The team plays in the Big 12 Conference. The team is currently coached by Bruce Weber.
The team played its first games in 1902, and since then, has reached a large measure of success. It won its first conference championships in 1917 and 1919 before quite a bit of time passed between major successes. In 1948, the team made their first ever NCAA Tournament appearance, making it to the Final Four. Under coach Jack Gardner, the team made it to two Final Fours and one National Championship game, as well as winning three conference championships. Under Tex Winter, the team made it to four Elite Eights and two more Final Fours. Since that time, despite never reaching the Final Four since 1964, the team has continued its winning tradition, winning a myriad of conference titles and making the NCAA Tournament a plethora of times. During the tenure of Jack Hartman, the team made four Elite Eights including three out of four years between 1972 and 1975. Recently, under coach Frank Martin, the team went 117-54 in his five year coaching tenure, racking up the most wins in a single season in 2010, and winning Big 12 Coach of the Year to go along with the team’s Elite Eight appearance.
The “Sunflower Showdown” is one of the greatest and longstanding rivalries in the history of college sports. When the Wildcats face off against their in-state foe, the Kansas Jayhawks, each team brings their A-game as they face off against one another. This continuous series since 1912 has seen more than 250 games, with Kansas holding a decisive lead 183-91; however, in February of 2011, Kansas State defeated a ranked #1 at the time Jayhawks squad.
