Missouri Tigers Mens Basketball Tickets
The Missouri Tigers men’s basketball team is a Division I program for the University of Missouri. The team is located in Columbia, Missouri and play their home games at the Mizzou Arena. The Mizzou Arena has a capacity of 15,061 people and was built in 2004. The team holds an astounding 120-21 record at home since the new arena was built. They hold a 73-3 non-conference record at home, and have not lost a non-conference game at home since the start of the 2006-2007 season. The student section is known as the “Zou Crew” and are a large reason why the Tigers are so successful at home. The team is currently coached by Frank Haith, who in his only season as coach of the Tigers, led them to a 30-5 record despite inheriting a fundamentally weak team.
The team played its first games in the 1906-1907 season and since that point, have garnered quite a bit of success. In the 1943-44 season, George Edwards led the Tigers to their first NCAA Tournament appearance; however, it was not until Norm Stewart led the Tigers to a 26-5 record in 1975-76 where they won their first NCAA Tournament game, reaching the Elite Eight. To date, that is the farthest they have reached in the NCAA Tournament. Stewart would win 634 games at Missouri, more than they had won in the 60-years prior to Stewart’s arrival. He led the team to 16 NCAA Tournament berths, reaching the Elite Eight twice. The Tigers have featured a total of 42 players selected in the NBA Draft. 13 of those selections have come in the first round.
Missouri has a large number of rivalry games; however, they all pale in comparison to the Border War. The Border War is an annual matchup between Kansas and Missouri. This matchup has featured bench-clearing brawls, and come back victories, these matchups are some of the marquee games of the year, not only for these two schools, but nationally. Kansas won the last matchup, 87-86 in overtime in February 2012 in Lawrence. Kansas leads the overall series 172-95.
