Northeastern Huskies History
The Northeastern Huskies are counted among the gems of Colonel Athletic Association. Earlier, they were the member of the America East Conference and competed in NCAA as its member for many years. When the Huskies were playing their last season in AEC, they delivered the outstanding performance, winning 21 games against 10 losses, a .833 winning percentage and made it to the first round of National Invitation Tournament. The Northeastern Huskies joined the Colonel Athletic Association in 2005 season, going 19-11 in their first season in CAA under the head coach Ron Everhart. They finished the 2005-06 season at 5th place. Another wave of success came to the team when Bill Coen was appointed as the head coach in 2006-07. Though the Northeastern Huskies could not able to post a winning season in his first year, but he soon turned the tables in 2008-09 season. They gave a phenomenal performance in 2008-09 season, posting 19-13 record with head coach Bill Coen. Huskies showed further improvement in the following season as they compiled 20 wins against 13 losses and made it to the NIT first round. The Northeastern Huskies play their home games at Matthews Arena, situated in Boston, Massachusetts.
