The Ohio St. Buckeyes were founded in 1890. They played their first game on November 1, 1890 against University of Wooster. The Buckeyes were not considered competitive during their initial seasons. Their fate changes in 1899, when John Eckstorm was hired as the head coach of the team. The Buckeyes posted their first undefeated season. In 1912 season, various development took place in the team. They joined the western conference and hired Lynn W. St. John as the athletic director. The Buckeyes won the very first Big Ten championship in school history in 1916 season, they finished the season with 7–0. In the following season, the team recreated the history and won a second outright title. The Ohio St. Buckeyes started their 1935 season with a bang! The team finished the season with an outstanding 7-1 record. Their success story did not end here. The Buckeyes won another Big Ten championship in 1939 season. The team marked a big win in 1968 season. They defeated the number one-ranked Purdue Boilermakers and produced an undefeated season. The team has claimed 7 national titles since their formation. The Ohio St. Buckeyes play their home games at Ohio Stadium.
