Anaheim Mighty Ducks History
The Anaheim Mighty Ducks were formed in 1993 by The Walt Disney Company. The team selected Paul Kariya fourth overall in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft and he became the face of the franchise for several years. The franchise played their first ever game at home on October 8, 1993 but unfortunately lost to the Detroit Red Wings. After two more games, the Ducks won the first game on home ice as they defeated the Edmonton Oilers with 4-3. The Ducks made it big in 1996-97 season. They reached to the post-season for the first time and finished with a 36–33–13 record. The Ducks missed the playoff in 1999–2000 season by 4 points but finished the season with the winning record. The Webbed-Toes finished the 2005-06 season with a 43–27–12 record and acquired the sixth seed. After this, the Ducks beat the Calgary Flames in the quarter-finals and defeated the Flames to reach the semi-finals. They faced the Avalanche in the semi-finals and won the game. In the finals, they lost to the Edmonton Oilers. The Ducks defeated the Vancouver Canucks with 6-0 in 2006–07 season and set a record of winning first 16 games of the season. On March 11, 2007, the Ducks recorded their franchise's 1000th point with a 4–2 win over the Canucks. This improved their franchise all-time record to 423–444–155, 1001 points. Since its establishment, the team has won 1 Stanley Cup, 2 conference championships and 1 Division championship. The Anaheim Mighty Ducks play their home games at Honda Center.
