The Chicago White Sox has entered into the world of baseball in 1900 and after that, there was no looking back. During its initial years, the team was referred as Chicago White Stockings. But the name was soon shortened to White Sox by their north side rivals the Cubs. The White Sox played their first game on April 24, 1901 against Cleveland and won by 8-2. The team won the 1906 and 1917 World Series and made the city of Chicago proud. After the war-shortened season of 1918, the team reverted back in the year 1919 to win the pennant and entered the World Series heavily favored to defeat the Cincinnati Reds in a best-of-9 series. The team had set an unbreakable record of 116 wins in a single season that year.
