The Dallas Stars were established in 1967 as the Minnesota North Stars. In 1993, the team moved to Dallas, Texas. The Stars played their first game in Dallas on October 5, 1993, against the Detroit Red Wings. The team won the game by a score of 6-4.Success came quickly to the team, player Mike Modano had the best season in the career with 50 goals, 93 points. This brought the team in the public's eye. The Stars won 42 games and scored 97 points in their first season and qualified for 1994 playoffs. They stunned the spectators by defeating the e St. Louis Blues in the first round. But unfortunately lost to the Vancouver Canucks in the second round. The Stars saw another successful season. The Stars won the Central Division, their first division title since 1983-84. In 1994, they posted 48 wins and reached 100 points for the first time in franchise history. They were seeded 2nd in the '97 Playoffs. Success followed them in the following season, the team won 51 games and crossed the 50 win mark for the first time in franchise history. They set a record of scoring 114 points, record which still stands. The Dallas Stars won 2 presidents' trophies, 1 Stanley cup, 2 conference and 7 division championships. The team play their home games at American Airlines Center.
