Irwin Tools Night Race at Bristol Tickets
As one of the few night races in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stock car race, there are many things that help make this particular race one of the most popular in the series. The Irwin Tools Night Rice is held at Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, Tennessee and although it is one of the two Sprint Cup races held at the track, with the other being the Food City 500, it is historically the most watched and most popular. This particular race has been a staple in the sport for many years and has been a part of the circuit since 1961.
From its inception until 1978, the races were always held late on a Saturday night in August, they were also considered to be some of the most difficult tickets to get in all of sports, in fact at the time, the wait list to get tickets to this race was longer than any other sporting event. Since 2001, the race has been title sponsored by Newell Rubbermaid, and while they have leant the Sharpie name to the race for many years, in 2009 they decided to promote a different brand, Irwin Industrial Tools and change the name of the race again.
Due to the style of the race, many are surprised to find that with this particular event, drivers are traditionally not able to reach the speeds that they reach in other NASCAR events. In fact, most drivers only reach in the 90 mph for their average range. Despite the slower speeds, the race still manages to pull in numerous viewers and is seen as one of the most exciting races to watch in NASCAR today. This is because many records have been broken at this event and it is known for having many close finishes.
The race has had a number of different winners throughout its history including three consecutive runs where back to back wins were made by the same driver from 2005-2010. In 2011, after back to back wins from Kyle Busch of Joe Gibbs Racing, Brad Keselowski came in and won the 2011 event. The 500 lap races has yet to have a single winner completely dominate the win history which is one of the many things that makes the Irwin Tools Night Race at Bristol such a closely watched event.
